Measuring the Intensity of Stress

There is some level of stress in every person including new born babies. This is true because it has been found to be so and one factor that comes out clearly is that stress levels or intensity of stress differ from person to person. These is because people have different causes of stress or stressors. You will find some people dealing with very serious situations while others dealing with relatively minor situations. When you compare the two, you are bound to realize that some stressors are more difficult than others. This comparison is the measuring of stress intensity.

Examples of stressors are family problems, work issues, health issues, poor attitude which can lead to a low coping capacity because self esteem will also be affected negatively and so many more. You do not have to look for stressors away from you because they range from the smallest thing to more serious stuff. We all have triggers of stress and it is just a matter of time before we realize that stress keeps coming back no matter your situation. However, since there is no getting rid of stress from our lives completely, we have to learn all about it including measuring the intensity of stress in our lives and hopefully make decisions that will make our lives better.

The first kind of stress intensity in life is distress. It is simply defined as a form of negative stress which can be caused by constant change which does not allow the brain to find that comfort zone. A comfort zone is vital to a person because confidence will be derived from this. Short lived stress which is a form distress is acute stress. This kind of stress ensures that a person adjusts to the environment around them to facilitate comfort. The more serious version of acute stress is chronic stress which will require more attention to eradicate. It is as a result of constant change which is clearly for the detriment of the sufferer.

The kind of stress that you need to appreciate in life is eustress. This is a positive stress that allows or enables a person to outdo themselves in a challenge. Referred to as a motivating factor, eustress will be experienced before you undertake any physical challenge. One kind of eustress is the adrenaline rush which is known to enable people keep going no matter what. Another form of stress is hyperstress which is associated with burdening of an individual with work they cannot take. Many workers have had hyperstress which can affect the emotions severely. Many people often realize later that they are suffering from this after they have done all they can to meet specific targets. Hypostress is stress that comes from feeling you are not being challenged with enough work which is opposite to hyperstress.

Some employers are known to be ruthless pushing workers to the wall but, the result will be the loss of workers and this might form a cycle until the work load is reduced. This kind of stress is only made worse when the conditions of workers are not conducive and this might be low pay despite of the great work being done, workers will also deteriorate when their working environment is made unbearable by very mean bosses who are not interested in raising the spirits of workers. This kind of negativity will put anyone off. People who suspect to suffer the stress condition need to reevaluate their lives and make drastic decisions which might mean getting away from such environments.
