If there was something so simple yet so effective that would make your family life as happy as it could be, would you do it? Of course you would! What is it? It's the little things. No, really I mean it. Stress management at home is most effective when you start doing the little things. Big things are easy to do because we all see them, but what about the little things? We often overlook them (not necessarily on purpose). That is our big mistake and a large source of stress in our life. However, small things most often have the largest impact for good in our lives. Stress management at home will be achieved by doing small things. This sounds too simple to work right? Wrong. It can be the most effective strategy for your success in stress management.

What causes the stress at your house? If we think about that long enough we will see that much of our stress comes from focusing too much on ourselves instead of our family. What does this amount to? It breaks down your family relationships, causing friction and stress. What does it take to manage stress at home? Stress management takes work and involves identifying what causes the stress.

First, think about what you are missing; the little things that mean so much to each person in your family. They can be: taking out the trash, saying hello, giving hugs, or leaving thank you notes to be found by a family member to name a few. Let's call them "Little Acts of Kindness." When we focus on our family instead of on ourselves, we show them that we love them. This single result from our actions is worth more than anything on earth.

Stress at home is caused by neglecting those in your family (intentionally or not), among other things. When we focus on serving our family, we start to do the little things. This is what holds our relationships together. If I never said hello to my wife, after a while she would start to wonder if I really loved her anymore. This is a very little thing, but it can spread into other areas of your life. After some time, not saying hello might cause you to become callused toward your family. Little by little your family relationships are eroded, causing more and more stress.

Strengthening your family relationships is most important in stress management. The benefits are numberless when you put your efforts into strengthening your family. Stress relief comes from the fact that you will have less friction at home. You will feel more and more love for your family and their love for you. This is where true happiness is found.

Let me bring it all in. Stress management begins with your focus on doing small things for the benefit of your family. The small things you do will show your family how much you care. This will strengthen your relationship and provide fewer occurrences of friction and more happiness. Thereby, effectively reducing stress in your family.

Put it to the test. I can guarantee your stress management success and happiness when you lose yourself in loving your family. I know that if you add this to the good you are already doing, you will have nothing but success in stress management at your home.

Sincerely,
Michael Pollak
