Have you read about this recently? Green tea has become really popular for all the amazing health benefits it provides. It has the power to fight a number of diseases and can turn around your health effectively and safely. In this article I have distilled down all the green tea information you need, to understand if it is good for you.
Any green tea information must begin with its origins - Green tea comes from the leaves of the plant Camellia Sinensis. This plant also provides us with black tea and oolong tea. The difference between all these tea types is the level of fermentation that they go through. Black tea is fully fermented which destroys most of its active ingredients, oolong tea is partially fermented, and green tea is not fermented at all. This preserves most of the active ingredient content present in it.
These active ingredients are actually called Polyphenols. They are antioxidant in nature and protect the body from free radical damage. Free radicals alter the body’s digestive processes causing a variety of diseases. They also alter the structure of body cells, causing the formation of cancerous cells which can then proliferate and cause full blown cancer.
Polyphenols protect us against these by neutralizing the free radicals. Apart from preventing cancer, they also have anti bacterial properties and even protect against heart disease by lowering the LDL cholesterol in our blood stream. No green tea information is complete without touching upon the digestive properties of green tea. It has been popular for centuries in China for its powerful digestive capabilities, which also protect us from stomach ailments.
A part of green tea information that not many people are aware of, is its caffeine content. To get the complete health benefits, you will need to drink around five cups of the tea daily. This would mean a significant amount of caffeine entering tour bloodstream, and can cause side effects like anxiety and restlessness.
You can take de-caffeinated tea, but the process of decaffeination removes some of the polyphenols from the tea. This significantly reduces the health benefits that you can get from the tea.
The best alternative is to take a nutritional supplement that contains green tea extract in it. The good ones will have a minimal quantity of caffeine, which ensures that you will not have any side effect whatsoever by taking the green tea supplement.
Another important point to note is, a good supplement will combine green tea extract with other synergistic ingredients like ginger and pine bark extract. These natural ingredients provide many more benefits when taken together as opposed to taking them in isolation.
Now that you are armed with all this green tea information, go and find out a good supplement that can protect and rejuvenate your body in a natural way.
