Sexy Legs at Sixty? Yes, You Can!

By the age of 50, it is estimated than more than half the women experience poor vein health. By 60, this figure rises. Bluish, knotted-looking tinges pop up on legs and on the face. These can become visible enough to be embarrassing to some women. But ugly veins can be easily taken care of. You should be aware of ways you can support vein health. It can be as easy as a little exercise and a daily intake of vein supplements.

Unattractive, bulging veins not only spoil the appearance of great looking legs but they may also make you appear older than you actually are! You probably try to cover your legs with longer hemlines or may have even dropped the idea of wearing a short dress or shorts. But bluish-looking veins may not be so harmless. If proper care is not taken, these veins can begin to stand out as sore spots on your body. They not only make your legs look ugly and lumpy, but they may even inhibit your normal lifestyle. Bulging veins are often associated with a throbbing discomfort and heaviness in the legs. It can also be accompanied by a burning sensation in the legs. Poor vein health may result in limited mobility and can disturb the normal lifestyle you have grown accustomed to.

Bluish-looking veins which appear just under the surface of skin are due to poor blood circulation in the body. All veins have one-way valves that promote blood flow in one direction towards the heart and lungs. But if the one-way valves lose their elasticity and function poorly, blood can flow backwards causing a pool of blood to collect in the veins. Since your legs experience the most gravitational pull, there is a greater weakening of vein health here.

Proper Circulation Vital to Health

The circulation consists of parts—venous, arterial, capillary and pulmonary circulation. Its job is to transport blood containing oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body. It also carries away waste products from the system and facilitates their elimination from the body.. Bulging, twisted veins obstruct the flow of blood and do not allow it to flow effectively. Regular, physical exercise is therefore, important to support vein health. A brisk walk for 30 minutes a day or aerobic exercise can increase blood flow to all parts of the body. The extra pumping that takes place during exercise helps to tone one-way valves, muscle mass and tones tissues. In addition, there are vein supplements that contain herbs and other nutrients that support a healthy circulation.

Nutrition is Important to Vein Health

There are certain foods and nutrients known to support vein health. Here are a few:

  • Maintain a fiber-rich diet. You should get about 30-35 grams of fiber a day through whole grains or take a fiber supplement.
  • Eat plenty of fruits that are rich in bioflavonoids – strawberries, raspberries, oranges. They also have a high Vitamin C content which is good for vein health. Include green leafy vegetables regularly in your diet. Some onions and garlic, too!
  • Hesperidin is an antioxidant found in citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables. Hesperidin is known to enhance the body’s ability to utilize Vitamin C. It also helps to strengthen blood vessels and their permeability.
  • There is an important antioxidant found in the rind of sweet oranges, called diosmin. Diosmin exhibits vein-protecting and anti-inflammatory properties. Citrus peels are available in the market and are often used in confectionary.
  • Eat foods rich in oligomeric proanthocyanidins complexes (OPCs). OPCs are bioflavonoids abundantly found in grape seeds and olives. These are believed to support vein health and lessen inflammation often associated with aging veins.

Vein Supplements to Support Circulation and Nutrition

Look for scientifically formulated vein supplements that contain nutrients such as diosmin and hesperidin. Several herbs help to support the circulation of blood in the body. Horse chestnuts are known to support circulation, particularly in the lower legs. Butcher’s broom supports healthy blood circulation. Gotu Kola helps to strengthen the inner walls of blood vessels where one-way valves are found.

Vein supplements, like Vein Matrix, nutritionally support healthy circulation and strong veins. Together with a nutritious diet and exercise, a daily intake of vein supplements can help you maintain the healthy looking legs you’ve been longing for! Yes, even at 60 you can have great, sexy looking legs! Whether you’re 40, or 50—taking care of your veins is an important aspect of healthy living. The earlier you start the better you will be at maintaining vein health!
