You can avoid this by checking where the manufacturer is sourcing its fish from, and where it is processed for extracting the oil. This information should easily be available on their website.
Finally, the purification process of the oil is also important. Look for an oil that has been molecularly distilled. This is the best possible method of purifying the oil and removes all kinds of impurities from it.
