Calling Cards Refer-a-Friend Programs

So you’ve recently tried out one of the many low-cost international calling cards, and, like most customers, you love it for its convenience and value. Naturally, you want to tell your friends about it because, hey, you’re a generous kind of person. But here’s another reason—referring a friend to your phone card company can earn you bonus points!

Most international phone card providers offer some kind of refer-a-friend bonus program. Here’s how it usually works: If you refer a friend to your phone card company, and your friend registers and purchases $50 worth of products from the company’s website, then you get 5 bonus points. Each bonus point means you get an additional dollar added to your account balance.

Be sure to read the details of the plan, because there are some restrictions. Most plans are pretty straightforward and reasonable, though. For example, to qualify for the bonus points, you must be an existing customer in good standing (which usually just means that you pay your bills on time). And, as you’d probably guess, you can’t refer a friend who is already a registered customer of your phone card provider. Hey, these companies offer great deals, but they still have make a profit, right?

Some companies even offer special refer-a-friend programs—limited time offers to encourage their customers to make referrals. These special offers can double the bonus points you earn by sharing the great benefits of international calling cards with friends and loved ones.

Here’s how most of these plans work:

First, you log in to your account using your email address and your password, and click the “Log In” button.

Next, find a box called “Manage Referrals” or some similar title, and click on the “Show All” link next to the title.

Then you fill in your friends’ names and email addresses and click the “Refer” button.

Shortly after you submit this referral, your friends will receive an email inviting them to join the prepaid phone cards program. All they have to do is respond to the request and make their first purchase. Once they do that, you get your bonus reward!

Many providers will also offer your friends additional rewards, for example, 20% extra minutes on their purchase if they spend at least $10.

It’s a win-win-win: you do a good deed for your friends (and earn yourself bonuses), your friends get great calling cards (and earn bonuses), and the calling cards company gets new customers!
