The 5-year research and development program of WRTMS is aimed to promote open systems that support future road traffic management policies, procedures, and measures, both in Jordan, Gulf Area, and overseas.
The program comprises a number of projects investigating various aspects of road traffic control systems infrastructure and applications.
A key aspect of WRTMS systems is the definition of cost effective communication architectures that take account of existing and future developments in communication technologies.
Whilst the core WRTMS communications links have traditionally been based upon landline telephone networks, the potential for deploying wireless communications is being investigated in the WRTMS Program by the WRTMS Task Force, which is concerned with wireless communication links both within WRTMS, and road users.
Lets imagine a system where speeding vehicles can be detected any where, any time; then it alerts the driver to let him know of the speed violation, & allow him a certain period of time - 10 seconds- to slow down.
If the driver ignores the alerts, a speeding ticket will be issued & the system will inform the driver of the ticket details by a message send to the systems vehicle kit.
Also lets imagine if the system can forbid the driver from exceeding the speed limit in a particular area even if the driver steps on the speed pedal.
It is great....
According to the WHO - World Health Organization-
30 million human lives, and 506 Billion US$ lost every year in car accidents.
A system like WRTMS would save huge amount of these numbers.
Simply speaking " The safety of Passengers , and Drivers is the main ROI of WRTMS".
Why WRTMS is needed badly all over the globe:
- Huge reduction in the accidents rates.
- Protection of people lives.
- No pursuiting of the speeding vehicles.
- 100% coverage of all speeding vehicles.
- Smart & more intelligent procedures & policies
will be introduced in the police departments
all over the globe.
- Drivers will think a lot before exceeding the
speed limits.
- The option to maintains the vehicle speeds within a certain range in a particular area, if the control module is deployed in that area of the country.
WRTMS functionalities depend on the wireless communication technology used,- 2G/3G are adequate technologies to be used as an infrastructure for the WRTMS-, and the positioning system like assisted GPS, software development, the vehicle module – mecha-tronics & communication research task force-, & above all the policies & procedures in that particular countries.
Deploying such a solution in a certain country requires major changes on the driving culture & policies in that country.
For example drivers will not be any more the main controller of the vehicle speed, how to deal with the new speeding ticket issuing procedure as huge amount of tickets will be issued especially in the early stage of the system deployment.
In the end WRTMS is the system that the world needs to stop bleeding, but having WRTMS up & running requires; great efforts, huge investments , and culture change.

StudentScholarships.org - How DNA Profiling has changed Policing
By: Drew Backley | 01/01/2010Because of DNA profiling, we are able to determine who should be placed in prison for committing crimes as well as those placed there unjustly. With the development of DNA profiling, lives have been saved. Instead of prisoners being unjustly executed because of death penalty laws, they are once again able to rejoin their loved ones and continue leading productive lives.

OK, maybe it doesn’t save lives (but I’m sure it’s saved some marriages) but, in my opinion it is the most innovative invention in the past 50 years.

Synchronizing Threads in Windows
By: Dr.Wael Al Bayaydh | 29/01/2008 | Information TechnologyA thread describes a path of execution within a process. Every time a process in initialized, the system creates a primary thread. This thread starts at the C runtime's start-up code, which in turn calls the WinMain function and continues executing until the WinMain function returns and the C runtime's start up code calls ExitProcess
