What racquetball accessories are important for your game?
The first thing you need when you play racquetball is a racquet. After all, the racquet is your lifeline to the ball.
Choosing the perfect racquet might seem like it’s a simple task. But, in the last 25 years, technology has advanced so much that you will need professional advice to pick up the right racquet. Keep in mind, racquetball accessories become more vital to your game as you move up from intermediate to advanced levels.
When choosing racquets, be aware of the gauge of the strings in the racquet. Always choose high quality racquets. Good strings enable you to play your shots more effectively. The power you can generate from the racquet decides how well you hit the ball. Tight strings generate more power. The racquet itself may be made of aluminum, graphite, fiberglass or wood. The handle should not exceed 27 inches and the head has the distinctive teardrop shape.
Equally important racquetball accessories are the grips on the racquet. Typically, racquets have a super small or extra small grip. Small grips are preferred because they allow more control. Your glove size will help you decide the size of the grip. In any case, buying small is recommended even if you’re new to the game because you can always increase the size of the grip with tape, if you feel the need for it. Professionals generally prefer smooth replacement grips because this keeps the racquet secure and safe in the hand.
Grip enhancements help you keep a firm control on the racquetball. It is better to avoid flat grips. Instead, opt for an ergonomic design so that your hand feels comfortable and allows you to play a powerful, controlled and fluid game.
Balls are racquetball accessories that you cannot do without. Balls are typically made of rubber compounds and they are blue or green in color. Professional balls are faster and are most suitable for serious play. Don’t even think of coming to court with a single ball because a powerful shot can break the ball or rupture it. Bring a canister instead.
Racquetball accessories are incomplete without gloves. Though you are not required to wear these, gloves are good for the hand and they keep you playing for hours without your hand feeling the strain. Gloves with mesh or open holes are preferred because they keep the hand dry and cool. Leather, sheepskin and synthetic material are preferred because of the excellent grip they give.
When you choose racquetball accessories, you cannot leave out the shoes. A lot depends on what you’re wearing on your foot. Good sports shoes must provide good traction so that the player can move and stop at will. Choose soles made of gummy material, as these are breathable and strong.
