Procrastination is an insidious thing that can creep into all parts of you life if it goes unchecked. Low motivation, self esteem, a fear of failure and poor time management can lead to high levels of procrastination that sap your energy and preordain failure. Life skills such as time management really help to cut down on procrastination by cutting out the fuzzy periods in your current poorly managed time that lead to wasted efforts on things that are unimportant.

With a good sense of time management you can cleanly divide your time into chunks that are efficient and do not have "fuzzy periods" as I like to call them. Fuzzy periods are where you are unsure of what you are doing next or you are in-between tasks in your work or private life that are not defined and can distract you which in turn can make you miss appointments and cut into your productive time. By having a clearly defined list of tasks and definite stop and start times to them you can avoid these fuzzy periods and free up more time in the long run.

The best strategy for good time management is to break down your day into small tasks that need to be done and also assign them priorities so you know what is most important. After you have assigned your tasks priority levels you must then organize them into your day, while it may be tempting to just do whatever is most important this can sometimes lead to more fuzzy times by the fact doing one task for a long period of time can lead to distraction and lack of motivation which leads to more fuzzy time periods. Instead try to divide your day into time chunks that you can place your tasks into, if you have not finished a task by the time you need to move on don't worry, put it aside and do it at a later chunk .. Even just alternating between two high priority tasks can be more beneficial than just doing each one sequentially because a time limit is a goal that you did not have before which eliminates the fuzzy period.

While there are many tactics you can use in life skills like time management organization, planning and prioritizing allows a clear and concise structure that will keep you busy and motivated and eliminate the tendency to procrastinate so that when you have free time it is not idle but a longer stretch of time you can put to better use than the time you used to waste!
