Lack of exercise in our lives is quite well known cause for chronic fatigue. The studies have proved that out of all the people visiting the doctors complaining about fatigue problems, merely 20% require actual medical treatment. And the rest 80% - what about them?
Well, they actually suffer with the effects of sedentary lifestyle. In fact, in a majority of such cases the cause of the chronic fatigue is the mere lack of exercise. Also, the people complaining for chronic fatigue tend to become victims of procrastination.
To understand this phenomenon you must question yourself the following and pen down the answers:
a. When is the energy level highest for you?
b. What reason do you think for it?
c. Do you feel depressed for very long periods?
d. Which foods insert more energy in your body?
e. Which types of foods make you slower than usual?
f. Which foods & beverages help you have a sound sleep?
g. Which foods & beverages rob off your sleep?
Now, in the light of these answers, take the following steps that would help you boost your energy and get rid of procrastination & lethargy:
1. Boost your energy.
You are always more likely to tackle those jobs that you have been delaying or postponing when ever you feel energized. And, the best means of increasing your energy levels is exercising regularly. The more energy you have, the more easily you would be able to tackle the tedious jobs. This is simply because you would be able to yield better results out of them. This would also add on to your speed of working. Above all, you would feel better about yourself.
2. Monitor your Lifestyles & Habits.
While writing this article I am using a stand up desk. The successful & renowned people of the world like Winston Churchill, Thomas Wolfe and Ernest Hemingway are a few among many who discovered that the working speed of the individual becomes faster & quality of work goes better while standing. The Declaration of Independence, drafted by Thomas Jefferson, was made at a stand-up desk.
Actually, the stand up desk keeps our posture right. This also helps us maintain the focus on the work, avoiding all the squirming around that we tend to do while sitting at a stretch for a long time. In fact, the high stools let us alternate quite well between sitting & standing. You would be amazed to notice the rise in your productivity & concentration once you start using the stand up desk.
3. Be grateful to the almighty that you have got some hard jobs.
Come to think of the 92 year old woman who accomplished the regulation of 26.2 mile marathon. When we think of our blessings & our loved ones, it becomes easier to complete things that one normally dreads away from. We must be thankful to the almighty to give us opportunities to prove ourselves by giving us some hard jobs. When ever we see the things in their right perspective, we realize that time is one factor that is too precious to squander in life for procrastination.
4. Research proves that certain foods make us sleep hard.
Usually the sound sleepers have their favorites in the late night meal. Some hot shots that generally help you have a sound sleep are bananas, whole wheat bread, peanut butter, potatoes, etc.
Also there are some foods & beverages that keep you tossing & turning at the night. When ever you indulge in such food items after dark, you actually pay its price in the next day with low energy levels & less attention towards work.
All these tips that is exercising regularly, eating the right food at the right time, alternating between sitting & standing; and last but not the least stretching sometimes all through the day – are all very simple techniques to keep the energy levels high all through the day. And of course, with a rather energized body, its less likely for you to fall in to depressing game of procrastination.
American humorist Rogers once said - Even though you might be on the right track, you would get run over easily in case you just simply sit there.
