Air Scrubbers for Air Cleaning

Oleg Systems Co. is a designer and manufacturer of industrial air scrubbers for air cleaning. Wet air scrubbers are available in many designs utilizing a number of principles and featuring wide variation in effectiveness, initial cost, operating and maintenance expense, space, arrangements and material of construction.

Oleg Systems Co. offers the following major Air Scrubber types:

SPRAY TOWERS / IMPINGEMENT SCRUBBERS

Spray towers and impingement scrubbers are available in different arrangements. The gas stream may be subjected to a single spray or a series of sprays, or the gas may be forced ti impigne on a series of irrigated baffles. Except for packed towers, these types of gas scrubbers have relatively low particulate removal efficiency, that can be improved by adding high-pressure sprays.

CENTRIFUGAL AIR SCRUBBERS

These scrubbers are characterized by a tangential entry of the gas stream into the collector. They are classed with medium energy wet scrubbers. The Oleg Systems Impingement Gas Scrubber is a typical example of centrifugal-type wet dust collector.

ORIFICE TYPE WET SCRUBBERS

In the orifice type wet dust collectors the gas stream is made to impinge on the surface of the scrubbing liquid and is forced through constructions where the gas velocity is increased and where the liquid-gaseous-particulate interaction happens. Water usage in the orifice gas scrubber is limited to evaporation loss and removal of collected pollutants.

VENTURI SCRUBBER

A high-energy venturi scrubber passes the gas through a venturi shaped orifice where the gas is accelerated to 12,000 fpm or more. Depending on the design, the scrubbing liquid is added at, or ahead of, the throat. The rapid acceleration of the gas shears the liquid into a fine mist, increasing the chance of liquid-particle impaction. In typical applications, the pressure drop for gases across a venturi is higher than for other types of scrubber. Water circulation is also higher; thus venturi air scrubbers use water reclamation systems.

ELECTROSTATIC AIR SCRUBBERS

Several gas cleaning devices, engineered by Oleg Systems Co., combine electrical charging of particulate matter with wet scrubbing. Electrostatic augmentation enhances fine particle control by causing an electrical attraction between the particles and the liquid droplets. Compared to venturi scrubbers, alectrostatically augmented air scrubbers remove particles smaller than 1 micron at a much lower pressure drop. There are three generic designs for electrostatic augmentation air scrubbing:- unipolar charged aerosols pass through a contact chamber containing randomly oriented packing elements of dielectric material;- unipolar charged aerosols pass through a low-energy venturi air scrubber;- unipolar charged aerosols pass into a spray chamber where they are attracted to oppositely charged liquid droplet.Collection efficiencies of up to 90% can be achieved in a single particle charging and collecting stage, depending on the mass loading of fine particles and the superficial velocity of gases in the collector. Higher collection efficienciescan be obtained by using two or more stages. Removal efficiency of gaseous pollutants depends on the mass transfer and absorption design of the scrubber section. In most applications of electrostatically uagmented scrubbers, the dirty gas stream is quenched by adiabatic cooling with liquid sprays; thus, it contains a large amount of water vapor that wets the particulate contaminants. This moisture provides a dominant influence on particle adhesion and the electrical resistivity of deposits within the collector Electrical equipment for particle charging is similat to wet precipitators. The scrubber section is usually equipped with a liquid recycle pump, recycle piping, and a liquid distribution system.

Use of heat exchangers in solar hot water heating applications

By: Michael Lewis | 17/12/2009
Solar Heating Owing to its advantages, brazed plate heat exchangers have become extremely popular in domestic heating applications. Especially in domestic solar heating setups owing to it low cost, low maintenance and high efficiency. One of the most important factors in determining the viability of a solar heater is its heat transfer efficiency. In simple terms, a good solar heater is one, which is able to transfer maximum amount of heat from the captured sunlight to the inner loop. A brazed p

Numerous Types Of A Water Filtration Filter

By: Floyd P. Dietz | 17/12/2009
One of the best things to have been invented in the modern world is the water filter. We are a world obsessed with thirst and in particular with the bottled water that can be found by the ton on our grocer's shelves. The reason that we love our bottled water is because it is supposed to be better filtered than that of regular tap water. However, in reality the tap water that comes from you faucet is thoroughly filtered and sometimes just as good to drink as the water that comes in the fancy plastic bottles.

Using Home Water Filtration System offer Cleaner Water

By: Floyd P. Dietz | 17/12/2009
There is just something about opening a water tap in the house and being greeted with the taste of clean, fresh water. Regardless of the source of home's drinking water, a home water filtration system can make that a reality, even with water from wells or cisterns. Even with water from commercial water treatment plants, there is always the possibility that some small impurities will make their way into the home water system and they can be removed by using a home water filtration system.

Industrial Process Ventilation

By: Oleg Chetchel | 07/10/2009 | Ask an Expert
Industrial fans include several types such as duct fans, roof and ceiling ventilators, wall mounted fans, pressure blowers, and freestanding units with different mounting options. For extreme conditions and plants, drum fans can be used to move even larger amounts of air. These types of fans come with wheels attached and can be rolled to the area that circulation is needed the most. Some manufacturers even sell just the fan heads for a more freedom and a reduced assembly and cost on the company.

Industrial Ventilators and Blowers

By: Oleg Chetchel | 06/10/2009 | Business
Industrial blowers are mainly used to circulate the movement of air and gas in ventilation applications. Their main function is to replace impure or contaminated air with fresh air by swirling it around. Almost every industry, including agricultural, chemical, medical, oil and gas, automotive, food processing, mining and construction use blowers for different purposes such as drying, reducing heat levels, reducing smoke and odors, processing and controlling gaseous fumes.

Ventilation by Forced Draft

By: Oleg Chetchel | 01/10/2009 | Ask an Expert
Forced ventilation is used to control indoor air quality. Excess humidity, odors, and contaminants can often be controlled via dilution or replacement with outside air. However, in humid climates much energy is required to remove excess moisture from ventilation air.

Ventilators, Fans and Blowers

By: Oleg Chetchel | 30/09/2009 | Technology
Centrifugal blowers come in a number of forms of which the most common is the squirrel cage blower. The common factor is the air is moving perpendicular to the axis of the part that is moving the air. Typically, the air is drawn in through the side of the unit, turns at low speed to encounter the inside of a spinning cylinder with ribs or vanes around the wall of the cylinder which fling the air out and away where it is captured and aimed through an outlet much smaller than the inlet.

Centrifugal Blowewr vs Axial Fan

By: Oleg Chetchel | 22/09/2009 | Branding
Variable Speed Fans – All of the fans described above can be used in conjunction with a variable speed driver. This might be an adjustable frequency AC controller, a DC motor and drive, a steam turbine driver, etc. Flow control by means of variable speed is typically smoother and more efficient than by means of damper control. Significant power savings (with reduced cost of operation) are possible if variable speed fan drives are used for applications that require reduced flow operation.
