Innovative Storage Ideas For Small Bathrooms

If you’re limited on bathroom space and you’re not living alone – regardless of how many people are using that bathroom, you’re going to run into issues. Whether you’re living in an apartment or a home that isn’t as large as you’d like it to be, storage in the bathroom can turn into quite a problem. Although you can’t cross your arms and wiggle your nose and expect there to magically be linen closets installed, and huge vanities for storage. Howver, there are some creative approaches you can take to get the clutter out of the bathroom. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be expensive either. By being innovative – you can create useful techniques that can be used now and in the future to make everyone’s lives easier.

  • If you’ve got a few different people using a bathroom, invest in storage caddies for everyone to keep in their own rooms that house their shower essentials. Space in and around the tub can be very limited and cluttering what space there is with tons of bottles can cause quite an issue. Simply pulling back the shower curtain can cause a whole gaggle of shampoos to go tumbling, so avoid this problem before it even starts. By carrying caddies into the bathroom – the products are there when you need them and can be tucked away in a closet or drawer when not in use. Choose a caddy that’s easy to carry and breathable so that wet bottles have a chance to dry off.
  • Hair dryers, straightening irons, and curling irons are known culprits for taking up drawer and countertop space. One great way to get them out of the way, but still in reach, is to install hooks underneath your vanity to hang the appliances from. If you don’t have room there, install hooks on the wall. Most of these items have loops on them, allowing them to be easily hung and removed. Instead of running the risk of leaving them sitting out to be knocked onto the floor and broken – get them out of the way.
  • Wall mounting things like soap dispensers and tooth brush holders will give you a new way to store your essentials without having to find counter space for them. If you don’t have a full vanity – trying to squeeze everything on the back of your sink can turn into quite a problem. Mounting these simple items on the wall will declutter your space in no time and give you more countertop to work with.
  • You don’t have to have shelves built into the wall in order to have storage. Invest in a rollaway storage unit or install some wire shelves on a wall that doesn’t interfere with the door opening and closing. If you have the wall space available, use it! Shelf installation is very easy and you can easily store towels and even things like extra toilet paper rolls on them.
  • Finally, get rid of boxes in the medicine cabinet! All those pill boxes in there can usually be eliminated very easily. Pills that come in boxes are typically in little individual packets that can be popped apart and stored in empty pill bottles. Get rid of any excess packaging and keep only what you need. You’ll be amazed at how much space opens up once you do.

These changes may seem small – but keep in mind that your bathroom is a small space and every little inch counts. By getting rid of things you don’t need, finding creative ways to store the things you do need, and making additions to make your life simpler – you’ll find that your bathroom can quickly and easily be turned into a more organized and useful space for everyone in your home!
