Getting A Higher Education Is More Than A Financial Payoff

Moving out of your parent’s home is the first step of entering adulthood. You get to decide on your own with no one interfering. You can stay up late to watch TV, drink some with friends or have a party. While it is fun to be on your own, the responsibility that comes with it is also enormous.

You were provided for on almost everything by your parents. Shelter was free and boy, didn’t you just love your room? It was comfortable and your mom cleans up after you. Food in the fridge didn’t cost you anything. Light bills weren’t yours to pay. Water too. Flat screen plasma TV came with cable, how much did you share? Zero. You have WIFI at home plus the laptop you’re using was a gift from your dad. Who did your laundry? Oh right, your mom. Sometimes on the weekends, you were given a few bucks so you can hang out at the mall with your friends. You were very fortunate to have this kind of lifestyle while others have nothing. Even food was difficult to find. And you have everything anyone could imagine.

Are you willing to leave that all behind? And your answer is YES, I CAN AND I WILL.

If you ask a lot of people who have been in your shoes once a long time ago, they have different interpretations on what they should have done first upon leaving home. When you’re 18 and eager to get out of the house, the most important things that you must secure are your education, a place where you’re going to live and a way to earn your keep.

It would be an advantage if you left home after finishing high school or better yet, after graduating from college. Being educated will bring you to places and levels of comfort. A high school graduate can earn $30,000-$40,000 annually. The starting income for someone who graduates from college is $50,000, the least. $100,000 and up from someone with a master’s or law degree. So this means that the higher education you acquire the bigger income you are most likely to be receiving.

If you do decide to become an attorney, then get ready to earn your keep. Going through law school is very difficult but very rewarding in the end. And because of today's economic climate, you can use what you have learned in school in many different way. Yes, you can become a typical attorney and produce legal forms all day, but you can also leverage the way you are taught to look at specific issues to do consulting or run our own business. So, There’s a better chance for you to get a well paying job if you have the proper education to support for it.

You have to find a place you can call your home. From now on, this will be your castle. You are the master. You have to take care of everything now, from signing the lease forms or mortgage, to setting up your utilities, to purchasing furniture for your new pad. The simple pleasures that you get for free in your parents home now rests on your shoulders and it won’t be complimentary. You will be responsible for all of it. So, keep your head straight and do what is best for you. Just remember that this is the start of your life and with wisdom in your mind and passion in your heart, you’ll never go astray. You’ll be fine.
