Costa Calida is the name given to the coast that stretches along the region of Murcia, located in the southwest of Spain. It is a beautiful region, full of unspoiled beaches and luxury golf resorts. Some of the attractions of this coast are: The Mar Menor, Europe's largest salt water lagoon.
The beautiful provincial capital is Murcia. Here you will discover a city that has retained it's Moorish heritage, yet offers today's visitor a fantastic array of fashionable boutiques, upmarket department stores and the finest local cuisine. The baroque Cathedral and University are well worth a visit.
The Costa Calida extends along 250km from the beach of Carolina in Aguilas, a few kilometres from the province of Almeria, to the beach at El Mojon on the boundary with Alicante. This stretch of Murcian coastline is blessed with 315 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 17 degrees. The area offers a diverse selection of activities for the visitor including all manner of water sports, hiking, hill-climbing and much more.
The Costa Calida begins at El Mojon, an old fishing village with a superb beach. A short distance from El Mojon you will find the Regional Park of Las Salinas Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar, the most important wetlands in the region of Murcia. Flocks of pink flamigos are resting here every year. The salt works here were exploited by the Romans and are a complex network of pools. From here we could see the road to San Pedro del Pinatar and visit the Casa del Reloj on the San Sebastian Farm. Approximately two kilometers away is Lo Pagan, a town with the largest area well know as a mud baths in Europe. These mud baths are recommended for all kinds of skin. Also you will find plants of tranquil beaches, an early morning fish market and ample night-life.
The Costa Calida is the ideal place for an impressive vacation in both wintertime and summertime. You could have all the benefit like beaches, swimming pools, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and many activities such as sailing, fishing, diving, kite surfing, water or jet-skiing, spas, golfing, cycling, horse riding and much more.
