A Showcase of Thailand’s Rich History and Culture: the Ancient City

Presenting the chance to learn about Thai architecture and history, this innovative outdoor museum requires a vehicle to traverse its entire 280 acre area. Located inside are replicas of numerous historical and religious buildings that should not be missed when traveling to Bangkok.

This enormous park provides the perfect opportunity to spend an interesting day when in Thailand. It is due to its impressive size that the park has been billed as being the largest outdoor park in the world.

With an innovative design in its construction, the entire outdoor area is designed to duplicate the actual layout of Thailand and all the structures that are located inside mimic their actually relative position in Thailand.

The replicas that are housed here are all extremely accurate being virtually identical to the structures that they impersonate. This was made possible with the help of the National Museum. However even more special about the museum are the structures that are replicated here that no longer exist in Thailand itself such as the Royal Hall of Ayutthaya that was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767.

In addition to grand and Royal structures the common man and normal houses are not skipped over at Ancient City. Visitors can see various styles of Thai houses that were used during different time periods providing a unique insight in to the life of Thai people through the ages.

Several small food shops are scattered throughout the park premises that offer a simple array of food, but for those who desire a full dining experience there is a restaurant that is housed in a recreation of Thai floating village.

There is also a small village recreation that provides various souvenir style items for purchase that are created by local craftsmen.

With its extremely spacious environment it is hard to find a day when the city is crowded or packed but the downside of this is that traversing the entire area is difficult without some mode of transport. Fortunately the admission fee also includes a free bicycle rental but visitors can also rent a car or other automobile to traverse this grand park.

Staying in a Bangkok hotel that is located close to this destination such as Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok provides guests with a range of amenities and facilities in addition to a convenient location that provides easy access to this must see destination.
