Puru Timalsena "the man and inspiration behind Above the Himalaya Trekking"

Puru Timalsena has been leading treks and tours and adventure holidays since 2001. He is specialised in treks and tours throughout Nepal , Tibet , Bhutan and India . Puru has a passion for his own country, Nepal , and also a great love for the beautiful nature in the neighbouring countries. He loves sharing his knowledge and interesting experiences with others. 

Being active in the tourism industry is the perfect business for Puru. Since 2001 he has lead many trekking groups in the Himalaya mountain range, and he is proud to say that until now he never once failed guiding all his clients to the top of several 5000m plus mountains.

Puru Timalsena was born in mid-western Nepal , in a small remote village called Dhola, which is located in the Dhading district of the Annapurna-Manaslu mountain range.

In Dhola he spent his childhood and has finished his basic education. Being a farmers son Puru had to start work at an early age, and it wasn´t always easy to combine both work and go to school. But with his friendly nature and helpful character he managed and was loved by the villagers. 

At the age of 17 Puru went to Kathmandu for his further education. His background did not give him an opportunity to choose, so he was glad to roll into a Business study. The early phases of his stay in Kathmandu was not an easy time, sometimes Puru even had to struggle to survive. Not having a mattress to sleep on, and sharing a small room with 6 other friends were some of the painful circumstances he experienced. But Puru survived, and got out of all his experiences as a stronger and very independent person.

Without any help he has gained experience in the travel industry followed by building up his own company and is now even able to employ some of his family members.

The past eight years of hard but exciting work have given Puru a good understanding of the needs of international travellers. He can offer his experience and knowledge not only about trekking but about all possibilities in the Himalayan region including the local traditions, the different religions, and the respect that this beautiful part of the world deserves.

Puru´s deep, insiders knowledge of his home country, together with his talent to create unique and personalised itineraries to traditional and sometimes very remote destinations, make him one of the top-rank experts for travelling in Nepal and Tibet . Puru has the capability to manage operations and details very efficient and effectively, so that all people involved are satisfied.
