Albert Docks

In recent years the City of Liverpool has re-branded itself as a vibrant, fun, multi-cultural city. This re-branding was epitomised by the city being named the European Capital of Culture for 2008, which saw many regeneration projects, exhibitions, cultural events and festivals taking place during the year. All though in years gone by Liverpool has not been known for its cultural qualities the city is brimming with art galleries, museums and significant historical sites.

One of the hottest areas around Liverpool at the moment is the Albert Dock which has a unique blend of historic culture, business and property developments along with a number of stylish bars and clubs. The Docks are home to the Tate art gallery which is renowned for its unique collection of modern, contemporary art combined with more traditional work from national and international collections. Another major attraction of the Albert Docks that is a must see for any rock and roll fan or just music fan in general is The Beatles Story. The experience takes visitors through a unique look into the life, times, culture and music of one of the greatest bands of all time! Original instruments played by the band members along with an amazing recreation of the famous Cavern club where the Beatles played some of their first ever gigs make this unique tour a must do for any visitor to Liverpool. In contrast to the cultural and historical sites of the Albert Docks is some of the vibrant bars and clubs of the area which make the Docks great for a night out as well. All though quite pricey some of the bars and clubs offer a good night out and a number of local celebrities are often seen venturing in and out.

As well as offering a good night the Albert Docks also offer a few good places to rest your eyes afterwards, with some of the best hotels in Liverpool, possibly some of the best hotels in England. Most Liverpool hotels, are good quality and relatively cheap!
