An affordable vacation in Barbados must mean one where you can pay cash up front for your reservation, and not use a credit card to spread the cost. Not many people can afford to stay in the five star exclusive concrete monsters that litter Barbados and the Caribbean and pay up front, so they all spread the payments, but you the savvy traveller know that you can have a wonderful affordable vacation, a cheap family vacation, by checking out wonderful places like the Blue Orchids Beach Hotel.
The Blue Orchids Beach Hotel is strictly speaking an Apartment Hotel, and you will find it on a small white sand beach at Worthing on the south coast of the island. It is a thirty five room property, and you can choose between studios, one, and two bedroom suites, all well furnished and equipped, and each with its own private terrace, and beachfront and oceanfront views. The winter rates in high season the price varies from USD 170 to USD290 per day , and every room has a fully equipped kitchen.
You will find that you get good, in fact better than that, you will get great value for money at the Blue Orchids Beach Hotel. It is a simple fact that for USD200 a night you cannot expect luxury, but what you will get here is a small charming, very clean apartment hotel, perhaps lacking in frills but certainly not lacking in good old fashioned service, willingness, and manners from all the staff, and that is a rarity in Barbados today unfortunately, never mind the Caribbean, and for that alone the Blue Orchids Beach Hotel deserves thoroughly checking out.
The beachfront setting is lovely, the hotel sits at the end of a long curved beach, which has a lot of apartment buildings, and the grounds are well maintained, the swimming pool is clean, and the place has a real home from home feel about it. On the hotel's own little beach there is free use of sunbeds, parasols, canoes and boogie boards. You can use the beach and pool at the Coral Mist next door.
Whilst the kitchenette in your room is well equipped, you really don't want to be using it much, but you are within walking distance of a grocery store, not to mention shops, and importantly restaurants. The hotel has a beachfront restaurant which is pretty well OK, with lovely views, and the food more than acceptable, but your choice of restaurants outside probably means you will eat out a lot.
You may care to try out Bert's Bar and Restaurant, get Reception to organise a taxi to take you to lunch at Sandy Lane Golf Clubhouse, it is fantastic, and don't miss Champers for food and drink at great prices. You can easily walk to St Lawrence Gap, where there are plenty of eating places and action, and don't miss Pisces when you are there.
Blue Orchids Beach Hotel is a very good apartment hotel, and the fact that it is an affordable vacation spot leaves you more money for entertainment and car hire, and food. You should have a great Barbados beachfront vacation here.
