An Island Getaway on the Exumas Bahamas

Looking for a romantic travel destination in the Bahamas, then why not look at Staniel Cay Yacht Club in the Exumas , which could be the perfect romantic or honeymoon getaway for you and your partner.

The Bahamas in general terms is a really romantic travel destination with the huge number of islands and cays surrounded by the most lovely clear turquoise blue sea, and white and pink sand beaches. Few are more delightful than the Exumas, and more specifically Staniel Cay where you will find the Staniel Cay Yacht Club.

It is the perfect island getaway on a remote and unspoiled island, where you can enjoy a really comfortable and totally casual vacation. There are 9 absolutely charming cottages, a marina, and even an airstrip for light aircraft. There is also a clubhouse with a great restaurant and a typical Bahamas Bar.

The recently renovated cottages are non smoking and divide up as follows. There are four cottages named Blue, Orange, Pink, and Lavender which are just perfect for couples with one bedroom and a balcony right over the sea. They make for the perfect romantic honeymoon destination, particularly as they face west and enjoy amazing sunsets.

Four other cottages are designed to accommodate more guests, and the ninth cottage has three bedrooms making it eminently suitable for up to seven adults. All the cottages are air conditioned , with a coffee maker, and a small refrigerator, no kitchen, no telephone, no television, the last two being available in the clubhouse, to really let you forget the stresses of 21st century life.

The food at Staniel Cay Yacht Club is very good, and it is well worth your while taking the three meals a day all inclusive package, which by the way doesn't include drinks. The island of Staniel Cay is small being less than two square miles in area, with just a small village, and a population of fewer than 80 people, you aren't exactly spoilt for choice over places to eat.

This doesn't matter because the food is excellent, starting with the breakfasts, and at dinner you will find yourself choosing between steak, lobster, ribs, lamb, and a variety of fish. Orders need to be placed by five in the afternoon so the food is incredibly fresh and a sort of Caribbean/Bahamas/Western fusion, but excellent.

The staff at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club are efficient and friendly, your room will be kept spotless, and you will enjoy the company of the other guests. Many of them are of course off the wonderful yachts that anchor up at the marina, but the main thing you all have in common is the desire to escape the modern type of all inclusive, one size fits all hotel, and here you will certainly have done that.

One of the best features of this island honeymoon getaway is the whaler you get the use of to go exploring the Cays, and local beaches. You'll get a picnic to take with you, and you'll need good sunblock and high factor protection because there is no shelter from the sun on the beaches and cays you will land on. It helps to have some experience of boating, but even if you don't you just start small, don't be ambitious, and as your confidence grows you can venture farther away. You will also need to rent a golf buggy to shop and explore.

All in all Staniel Cay is just idyllic, the Yacht Club itself is a real romantic Caribbean Travel Destination, and the Cays of the Exumas are wonderful to explore and discover. Almost certainly if you choose this for your island getaway you will want to return.
