Benidorm is one of the most popular hotspots in the Alicante province on the coast of Spain and is booming with tourists, especially during the summer season when its population is more than half a million. Many would call it the Spanish melting pot, not only because of tourists from all over the world, but also because of the opportunity to try food from all over and participate in many Spanish traditions without the need to leave the city. Benidorm is not unlike its neighboring towns and cities with much history dating back to the Romans, Arabs and Catholic Kings, and there are still remains of these civilizations and architecture. However, these historical features are not the main attraction for Benidorm's visitors. They come for the opportunity to relax on the beaches during the day and enjoy the entertainment and fun at night. Interestingly, the name of Benidorm could be translated to "sleeping well" but with the entertainment and night-life fun to enjoy most vacationers would find it a challenge to sleep at night.
From the Alicante airport, you only need to drive a short two minutes until you read many of the beach front hotels available including the Bali, the highest standing hotel in Europe. Its four star quality makes for the most pleasurable vacation offering luxury rooms, adult and children swimming pools, gymnasiums, playgrounds and a fabulous view of the sea and beautiful surroundings. In addition to the amenities at Benidorm's hotels, there are great golfing facilities nearby, particularly in the nearby town of Altea.
Benidorm is known for its beautiful beaches consisting of a three mile stretch divided by a large rocky overhang known as the "Balcony of the Costa Blanca." Looking at a map, you will find that the beach is divided into two separate beaches. The beach on the right is called Levante. It is the newer part of the beach and offers restaurants, dancing, great food and a variety of water sports for both adults and children. If you prefer a quieter beach, then the beach on the left side of the division, the Poniente, would be the better way to go. The perks of this beach is great sunbathing because the buildings are so far away and even some coves to be explored.
Whatever your preferences while enjoying the beach, you are sure to find it on Benidorm's three mile stretch of beaches making up the Levante or Poniente. In addition to beaches, Benidorm's nightlife, great food, history, fabulous hotels, nearby golfing in Altea, and beautiful surroundings offers any tourist everything a vacation is meant to be.
