Business Travel Destination Spotlight: Philadelphia

Philadelphia, the city of 'Brotherly Love' is a popular destination for business travelers. With a plethora of things to do and see, this city has something to appeal to just about any business traveler.

Transportation
From the moment you step off the plane and walk into the ninth busiest airport in the country, the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), you will be amazed at the amount of food, shops and services the airport has to offer. The airport has thirty carriers with nonstop service to/from more than 130 U.S. cities and internationally.
The airport tends to be very busy and is always moving at a fast pace. Do not let the hussle and bussle of business travelers discourage you from to walking around and enjoying the services offered. Since the airport is so large make sure to keep track of your departure gate and give yourself enough time to make it through the crowds so you do not miss a flight.

Getting Around Philadelphia
Being the fifth largest city in the U.S., Philadelphia offers business travelers ample opportunities to navigate easily around the city. The Philadelphia International Airport is located just about twenty minutes by car or train from downtown Philadelphia (Center City).

Public transportation is a convenient way to travel around the city. There is a large subway system, bus services, trolleys and commuter trains which can get business travelers to the desired destination with little or no effort. The airport makes it very clear for travelers to get connected with the various forms of transportation.

What to See
No matter what your likes and dislikes are, downtown Philadelphia will sure have something to please even the pickiest of business travelers. Being the first capital of the U.S., history is a major aspect that Philadelphia prides itself on. Home of the infamous Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, National Constitution Center, and the Betsy Ross house name just a few of the many historical landmarks located in the city.

The city is also filled with places to enrich any business travelers’ cultural side as well. With a number of world-famous museums, including The Franklin Institute Science Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts are just a few of the many places to get a taste of culture. Be sure to plan ahead and book tickets before coming to the city to ensure you get the best prices and a guaranteed seat.

After a long day of business meetings it is time to relax and explore the nightlife of the city. Philadelphia, also known as the “city that never sleeps” has some of the top restaurants in the U.S. With Chinatown and Little Italy both located in the heart of the city, business travelers can “go around the world” in just a few hours. If you are traveling with a large business group make sure to book reservations to the restaurants before coming to the city.

A trip to Philadelphia would not be complete without experiencing a real Philadelphia cheese steak. The two most well known hotspots to get a cheese steak are Pat’s King of Steaks, or Genos, both places are located on E. Passyunk Avenue, just a short cab ride away from Center City.
