There are quite a few interesting museums worth a visit in Alicante. The provincial archaeological museum, the MARQ, is a museum with a varied collection to interest visitors. There are three rooms dedicated to the art of excavation, including underwater archaeology. The most important exhibits are in the Iberian (pre-Roman) room.
The CAPA collection of Spanish contemporary sculpture museum is inside the castle of Santa Barbara with works dating from the 19th and 20th century.
Apart from these, there is the Gravina Fine Arts Museum, and the University Museum.
Apart from these the various fiestas in Alicante fill the city with celebrations, music, and colour. Sa Juan is the most important festival here, and every year from the 20th to 29th June, the city sees nights of bonfires and fireworks- especially on the Playa de San Juan.
The nightlife scene in Alicante leaves nothing to be desired. There are innumerable ways and locations in Alicante where you can party late into the night. The Barrio Santa Cruz is a centre for young people and full of pubs, late-night bars with music, C/ San Fernando is the place to go for discotheques. The Explanada de Espana is lively, and the marina has a large number of different kinds of bars and pubs. In the summer, the nightlife centre of gravity shifts to the Playa San Juan
Car hire in Alicante is the easiest way to move around its many beautiful and worth visiting locations. There are many local companies offering car hire at reasonable rates. You will find the desks of all major car rental companies operating at Alicante airport which can be accessed from within the arrival area or from outside. It is advisable to book your car in advance, through the internet, with a reputed car hire company operating in the region.
