Car Hire- Useful Hints and Tips When Hiring Cars Abroad

Booking holidays can be stressful enough without having to worry about how you are going to get around once you are there; hiring cars is often the best way to get around a destination without being tied to public transport. There are a few points that you need to be aware of before and during the decision which car to rent.

When people choose to hire a car they do not always consider the implications; first of all there is normally an age limit with regards to car hire , this is normally between 18-25 so be sure to check the exact age out before renting as each company is different. There may also be a premium to pay for drivers in this age group and at the other end, some companies will not rent cars out to anybody older than 75.

Rates on car rentals vary and you can often find the best rates when you search the internet, it may take longer but it will be worth it. Before you book, you need to ask for any extras such as highchairs or booster seats as most rental companies do not have them available without notice.

Once you have decided which the car rental for you and have ordered the extras, make sure you fully understand any extras that may have to be paid, this way you can do your best to ensure you do not have to pay any surcharges such as am empty tank.

Now you know what to expect, it is time for your car to arrive. This is the important part; make sure you thoroughly check the car for any damage, inside and out, many people do not check the car first and this means the rental company can add surcharges and there will be nothing you can do about it. Make sure the manual is there with all relevant information; check the headlights and indicators to ensure they are fully functional and that all paperwork is in order including all insurance details should anything go wrong.
