Semi-Soft-Sided luggage is partially-framed versions of the hard-sided luggage since they are hard overall but have softened top and bottom sides. The softness factor of this type allows slight expansion and thus greater room for more stuff to be packed inside without compromising its contents. These are made up of leather - natural or processed or fibers - natural or manufactured.

The Soft-Sided cases are, as their name suggests, soft. They are expandable, weigh the least but are less durable than the other types. Many of them have artificial stiffeners added to the fabric in order to hold them up more firmly.

Most regular departmental stores sell luggage sets at fairly reasonable prices. The other options are the specialty luggage stores providing a good range of products, some even dealing in custom made orders. There are scores of designer boutiques selling exquisitely designed luggage - and of course, these come at fancy prices. Other options include a list of prominent big names like Sam's Club, Target, Costco, and Wal-Mart and a few small scale retailers like Steinmart, Kohls, T.J. Maxx, and Tuesday Morning offering limited ranges at affordable prices.
