London has a long and interesting history, which initiated when the romans established the first major settlement there in AD 43 after the Roman conquest of great britain.

London was particularly prosperous in the eighteenth century and it became the largest city in the world from 1831 to 1925. the growth of london was aided by London's first railways, which put countryside towns within easy reach of the city. The railway network expanded very rapidly, which made London grow into its surrounding areas and merge with nearby settlements for instance Kensington.

Ever since then, London has continued to thrive and it has stayed one of the world's largest cities.

Because it's the capital of britain, London boasts the perfect museums in the country. One of the perfect is the Science Museum, which is in south kensington. The museum was formed in 1857 and boasts over 300 000 exhibits, including Puffing Billy and Stephenson's Rocket.

The city boasts many of fabulous galleries too, including the National Portrait gallery.

From quirky markets to designer shops, London has some great opportunities for shopping.

Oxford street is generally known as the finest shopping street in england. The street has topshop's renowned flagship store, as well as a massive Selfridges, which was established there in 1909. recently, a massive Primark store opened on the street & it has proved very popular with shoppers.

London is well-known for its exclusive cocktail bars, nightclubs & theatres. One of the best-known clubs is Fabric , which is situated in Leicester Square. This huge nightclub has a 1600 capacity & it attracts some huge name DJs, especially on Fridays when it holds its renowned Fabric Live event.

Another exciting nightclub is Ministry of Sound, which is situated in Southwark.

Because its such a major place, London is truly simple to get to. in fact, its well connected by rail and boasts some big railway stations, comprising of London Bridge, London Victoria, London Euston and Liverpool st. as well as this, the city also boasts three big airports, Heathrow; Stanstead and Luton.

Driving in London can be tricky because of the congestion charge, but the city boasts a excellent underground and bus network to help people get about.
