If the time has come to start planning for that special day, why not consider our wonderful county when looking for your ideal location. With a picturesque coast, beautiful open countryside and a varied choice of Essex Wedding Venues available, you are sure to find one that ticks all of your boxes.

Located in Feering in the borough of Colchester and set amidst 75 acres of parkland is Prested Hall. Turn off the A12 and follow a long tree lined drive and you will find a part moated 15th century country house with 10 en-suite bedrooms and many period receptions rooms which could be yours from the ceremony right through to the next morning. You could have the choice of either the Ballroom which seats 65 or the Dining room which seats 48, both of which are licensed for civil ceremonies along with the Orangery and the Gazebo.

Country House Weddings can offer tailor-made packages for two Essex Wedding Venues, Leez Priory at Great Leighs, Chelmsford and Gosfield Hall in Gosfield, Colchester.

Leez Priory, winner of Wedding Ideas Magazine ‘Best Wedding Venue’ 2007 and 2008 is licensed for civil ceremonies in five different locations within the grounds. On offer are 15 bedrooms, a hidden cottage within the grounds for the Bride and Bridesmaids to stay the night before the wedding, the Great Hall which can seat up to 80 guests and the Coach House which can seat up to 110. As the venue would be yours exclusively, you could also invite up to 250 guests for the evening reception and party.

The Georgian manor house that is Gosfield Hall can also be yours exclusively for your wedding day. This former Royal residence has to offer 21 refurbished bedrooms, the Marquis of Buckingham’s former ballroom which could cater for up to 116 guests and as with Leez Priory, you could also invite up to 250 guests for the evening reception and party. With its 120 ft long aisle, the Queen Charlotte's Oak panelled gallery is ideal for wedding ceremonies and the licensed carriageway is a great location for outdoor ceremonies on sunny days.

With its beautiful grounds, Hedingham Castle makes an ideal location for a wedding. Located in the village of Castle Hedingham and owned by the Honourable Thomas Lindsay, the castle is closed to the public during wedding ceremonies. With seating for up to 100 guests in the Banqueting Hall and space for another 30 in the Minstrel’s Gallery above, your ceremony would take place by candle-light with the option of a medieval themed wedding complete with authentic costumes or if you prefer, the more modern traditional ceremony. The lined marquee on the Tulip Lawn would then be available to you for your Wedding Breakfast, and with exclusive use of the house and beautiful grounds, there would be plenty of opportunities for some amazing photographs for you wedding album.

Part of the Best Western group, The Rose and Crown Hotel situated in Colchester offers you a lovingly restored 14th century oak timber framed building as your wedding venue.
