With its mind blowing scenery, fabled blue lagoons, white sandy beaches, lush green hills, emerald blue waters filled with colorful marine species, palm-fringed motus, and leftovers of extinct volcano extending to peaks such as Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia, a vacation to Bora Bora is truly a dream come true.

Above all, for those touring the island during June-July can take part in Heiva, which is one of the most popular festivals in French Polynesia. It is a month-long event filled with fun and festivities. During this festival, people from all five archipelagos of French Polynesia such as the Society Islands, the Marquesas, the Tuamotus, the Austral, and the Gambier Islands, gather here to celebrate and display their traditional skills.
One of the specialties of the festival is the Mr and Miss Tahiti Competition. In contrast to other related contests, beauty or strength is not the criteria to win the competition. But, the winner would be the one who has cracked open ten coconuts in least time.
