The province of Alicante, on the east coast of Spain is located half-way between Valencia and Murcia. The province forms part of the Comunidad Valenciana and Alicante is the second largest city in this region.

The Cuevas del Canelobre lie approximately 25 km northeast of Alicante. Guided tours of the cave are offered at reasonable rates making it a worthwhile excursion from Alicante.
