Explore Krakow


Krakow is one of the largest and oldest cities in Poland and is located on the Vistula River. Krakow currently has a population close to 756,336 and the main language spoken is Polish.

As the former national capital, Krakow is a major attraction for both local and international tourists and attracts near to seven million visitors each year. Not only that, but Krakow has been deemed as the centre of Polish scientific, cultural and artistic life. Krakow also has five nature reserves and over 192 nature monuments that are home to a wide variety of plant and wildlife and are all legally protected.

Krakow has a temperate climate with average temperatures in the summer being 18 degrees and in the winter the average is close to freezing.

The buildings and surroundings in Krakow are all very different but are all very visually stunning. The architecture makes many people stop and stare to admire the detail and care that has gone into each building. It’s not just the buildings in Krakow that look good, Krakow is home to some of the nicest looking parks around. The most well known park in Krakow is called ‘Planty’. It consists of a chain of smaller gardens that have all been independently designed in various styles and are all home to various monuments and walkways that are very popular with tourists.

After being named European Capital of Culture in 2000, Krakow is more of a place that sight-seeing tourists would visit rather than die-hard thrill seekers. Also people interested in art would enjoy visiting this wonderful city as it is home to 28 different museums and art galleries.
