Much of city centre birmingham was ruined during world war 2, & unattractive replacement architecture were quickly built. inspite of the cost, since the 90s, Birmingham has been undergoing many radical changes & a number of the post-war architecture have been rebuilt. most of the city centre is pedestrianized now, & the canals have also been cleaned up to make them look prettier.
