Jewish Synagogue
Jewish Synagogue is one of the oldest synagogue built in 1568 A.D. The synagogue houses scrolls of old Testament and number of copper plates inscribed in the Hebrew script. It also preserves several finely made gold and silver crowns gifted by great patrons.
The Rock Fort Temple
The Rock Fort temple in Tiruchirappalli, consists of three temples – the Manikka Vinayaka temple at the hill foot, the Uchhi Pillayar Koyil at the top of the hill and the Taayumaanava Koyil on the hill. Six worship services are offered each day here. An annual Brahmotsavam in Chithirai is celebrated with great enthisiasm. Other significant festivals celebrated here are Aadi Pooram and the Float festival in Panguni.
Gol Gumbaz
Gol Gumbaz, situated in Bijapur was built in 1656 and is an absolute epitome of architectural wonder. The dome is the second largest in the world, measuring 124 feet in diameter. The architecture of the this monument is outstanding with the four minarets being the four staircases leading to the top dome. The amazing audible system in the dome carries the faintest whisper around the dome, that even the tick of a watch can be heard across a distance of 37 m.
Mysore Palace
The Mysore Palace, built in Indo-Saracenic style houses many exquisite carvings and work of art from all over the world. The three storeyed building has a series of square towers with arches covered by domes. The Palace displays the souvenirs, paintings, jewelery, royal costumes and many other belongings of Wodeyars. 'Gombe Thotti' inside the palace showcases the Indian and European sculpture and ceremonial objects. 'Diwam-I-Am' on the second floor has a decorative ceiling, shining floor and many sculpture pillars, which are painted with gold.
Golconda Fort
The magnificent Golconda was built by Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah in 1525. It is an absolute epitome of Nawabi culture and glory. The fort is famous for its fantastic acoustic system- a hand clapped at a certain point below the dome at the entrance reverberates and can be heard at 'Bala Hissar', the highest point of the fort. The other attractions within the fort are the Palaces, factories, water supply system and 'Rahban' Cannon. The prime highlight of the fort is the sound and light show, depicting the glorious past of this fort. This audio-visual extravaganza is presented in English on Wednesdays and Sundays, Hindi version is presented on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Telugu version is presented on Thursdays.
