After the planning and excitement of a wedding, most couples look forward to getting away on their honeymoon holidays to spend some quiet time alone. Read on to find out about destinations for tailor made honeymoons that go the extra mile to ensure some romantic serenity.
Not every couple will seek out peace and quiet for their honeymoon holidays, but for many, a luxury honeymoon that provides a sense of tranquil isolation will seem like bliss, and there aren't many locations as isolated and yet as comfortable as a tropical island set in the middle of an ocean. This is true of the exotic island resorts you can find among the reefs and atolls of the Indian Ocean, such as the Seychelles, Mauritius and the Maldives. Here are two of our Maldives honeymoon favourites.
Naladhu Island Hotel in the Maldives
With just nineteen private houses on the island, the Naladhu hotel in the Maldives is a perfect ultra-luxurious hideaway for honeymoon holidays. The Beach houses each have a private pool accessed through sliding glass doors, and couples can choose to bathe in a romantic outdoor bath, or under a waterfall shower. Each beach house also has a private steam room.
Because a luxury honeymoon is a-once-in-a-lifetime holiday, newlyweds should have their honeymoons tailor made to their desires. For those who like to stay active, Naladhu makes available water sports such as sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, surfing, and sea kayaks, as well as deep sea fishing trips. And should you wish to seek out a little extra company, there are scuba diving centres nearby so you can enjoy the attentions of the fish.
However, if you think you'd prefer your luxury honeymoon to be more about unwinding than exploring, a little pampering may be in order. There's someone on hand at the Naladhu to give you a massage on the beach or under the shaded veranda of your house.
An alternative to the Beach Houses are the Ocean Houses at the same hotel. These are similar, but a little more removed from the island, positioned over the water so that you can hear the waves wash gently beneath your feet, under the decking. The hotel has the option of dining alone on your luxury honeymoon, too. You can have meals served to you at your villa, or even take an intimate dinner for two on a private beach on a deserted island.
Angsana Velavaru Island, Maldives
If a private beach weren't secluded enough, the Angsana Velavaru Island hotel has gone the extra mile. Two thirds of a mile, to be exact, which is the distance out into the shallow bay the hotels InOcean villas have been built. Each InOcean villa stands alone, surrounded by the warm turquoise sea, with the main hotel a seven minute boat ride away. Here, couples on honeymoon holidays can enjoy unrivalled privacy in their sturdy two-storey villa, each with a roof top terrace and a private pool attached.
In these oases of peace, newlyweds can soak up the hot sunshine and enjoy the views of the tropical ocean all around on a luxury honeymoon undisturbed in peace and quiet. What could be more intimate and romantic than you and your partner having an ocean to yourselves?
