Late deals on holidays can be very easy on the pocket but you have to shop around to find a real bargain and you must be flexible in the times that you can travel.
There are many places you can find a cheap last-minute holiday, the most popular being the internet and Teletext. If you do your homework beforehand, then you can narrow down the resorts that you would like to visit. Many tour operators offer deals on allocation on arrival, the most common type of last minute deal. This does involve an element of luck involved to the type of hotel or resort you are sent to, but usually you can specify certain criteria. However, be warned as allocation on arrival holidays aren’t always suitable for those with young children as you may find yourself in a hotel that caters for older people or exuberant youths!
Cancellation holidays offer incredible value for money simply because again, the tour operator has already been paid. If you want to go it alone, then hotels will sell cheap cancellations just in order to fill spaces. Carry out hotel comparisons online a week or so before you want to go and check daily. Find a cheap flight online and you can save a good deal of money.
If you are prepared to wait until the last minute to find last minute holidays before booking. This may mean that you will fly as soon as the next day and this is a gamble! Maybe it may not be suitable for those with families but for young people who like the idea of a challenge, it is a perfect solution. If you are patient and if you are willing to wait for cancellations, you will still be able to find lots of good deals, even at the last possible moment.
A golden rule is don't automatically take the highest bid - even if you are planning your holiday for a time that is only several days away, you still might be able to find good deals.
