Great Family Vacation In A Barbados Luxury Hotel

Why not check out the exclusive Royal Westmoreland in Barbados for the ultimate luxury family vacation spot

A Barbados Luxury Hotel, when is it a Hotel, and when is it not a hotel, is a relevant question when considering the Royal Westmoreland as your destination for the ultimate in luxury family vacations.

A traditional luxury hotel is enclosed in a relatively small area, with reception, dining rooms, bars all under one roof, and lifts, and the kind of similar trappings to this.

Royal Westmoreland on the other hand is a huge 750 acre resort and consists of privately owned luxury villas scattered around the world class golf course which has been beautifully laid out to maximize its scenic effect.

It sits on a ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea, being around 5 miles inland from Holetown on the west coast of Barbados, but is so peaceful and tranquil compared to all the beach areas. If you want to travel into Holetown this is easily done and there you will find a host of restaurants and shopping malls if you suddenly need retail therapy and a bit of action.

The facilities include a swimming pool, Spa, Gym, Golf, Tennis, and pool access at the Colony Club, and use of the private beach area they have as well, where the Royal Westmoreland has its own part, and a shuttle bus to take you there and back.

The words 'villa renter' are not synonymous with a Luxury Hotel, but nevertheless it gets you a discount rate at the great R. Trent Jones golf course that wanders through resort, and you will pay $105 per round including buggy.

The villas of course have a fully equipped kitchen, but what you can do is to take a package with a full time housekeeper and chef. If you can rent a Royal Villa which are amongst the newest, and definitely slightly better than the older villas. The villa will have a plunge pool, whilst not for swimming around is nevertheless welcome.

Also rent a buggy to get round the not inconsiderable distances on the Estate, and a Hire Car is a must because there is no evening dining at the Clubhouse, and you will need to travel to Holetown.

In fairness there are world class restaurants in the area, and they are accessible by taxi, and amongst them The Tides isn't to be missed

This logically comes back to the question of when is a hotel not a hotel. Royal Westmoreland has a pool, which is attached to the Clubhouse for the golf. There are restaurants, café and bars here, and you can have lunch, brunch or whatever but no dinner.

Perhaps this is being picky, because there is no doubts the Royal Westmoreland has the right to be a Barbados Luxury Hotel, and you will definitely have a great luxury family vacation here. There are very few people with any complaints at all, but you will enjoy it a lot more with the full package including chef, buggy, and hire car. This bumps up the not insignificant price but if you want a luxury family vacation, you tend to get what you pay for.
