Holden Beach Vacations - A Place to Remember

After a busy week in the city many people get in the car and drive to Myrtle Beach in North Carolina to have fun in the sun. What they may not know is that Holden Beach vacations can be a great place for a getaway.

Holden Beach is 45 minutes north of Myrtle Beach in North Carolina and it is a quiet island located on the coast. There are no major roads that will take you there so it is important to know where you are going the first time. The two many interstates that will take you there are I-95 and I-40 and then you can take Highway 17. You will find that the people are friendly along the way so if you get lost it's a good bet some can direct you.

One of the first things you will want to do when you get there for your Holden Beach vacations is to get up early to watch the sun rise across the water. The interesting thing about this is that this is the only place where you can watch the sun follow the dunes by day and then watch it set back into the ocean at night. This is the only beach in the area where you will have this experience.

If you have a family Holden Beach vacations can be just the place to go there are many activities no matter what time you go. The beach officially opens in the spring and The Day at the Docks is a festival that officially starts the season. Going this time of the will bring to you good food a "Bobble Race" and lots of fun.

In the Summer, there are there are a variety of free concerts from local bands who play all types of music. In the fall, the Festival By The Sea starts off your Holden Beach vacations with a parade. You'll experience arts and crafts, great food, music and you will watch as the beach is closed down for the winter.

If you like shopping Holden Beach has many different shops along the causeway. You can purchase anything from surf boards to handcrafted items by local artists. You can also stop in at Sandman's Candy land for a sweet treat.

For food treats you will find a variety of restaurants that fit any palate. You can try sandwiches and subs at Archibald's and you'll have to try the homemade desserts. One of the most delightful sandwiches is the Richie's Roster that is rotisserie chicken with provolone cheese.

The Isles Restaurant is a great place to go for your Holden Beach vacations because it has some of the best seafood in town. From the Mushroom Salad to Russian King Crab you will find something for everyone.

For a place to stay you can either go to a local hotel or you can rent a vacation house. A vacation house usually comes with a very clean and attractive home with many amenities. The prices are comparable to a hotel and you can get special packages. A special spa package can start at about $135.Hotel prices will vary depending on the season and dates. The Comfort Inn Shallotte is comfortable and cozy with rooms starting from $80.
