Hong Kong Avenue of Stars – Homage to a thriving tradition

With a well established and reputed movie industry, Hong Kong has firmly planted itself as a force to be reckoned in the world of film. Gaining ground with the famous signature Kung Fu flicks, the industry has evolved in to something far bigger. To mark this impressive achievement and significant part of Hong Kong’s culture, a special avenue was created to pay homage. While being modelled after the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, it still manages to go beyond the original inspiration. In the likeness of its Hollywood counterpart, the main draw visitors will find on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars are the handprints of famous actors and actresses adorning the avenue in addition to name plaques. One of the more distinct attractions on the avenue is a 2 metre tall likeness of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. The statute was created in 2005 to mark what would have been the stars 65th birthday. Another impressive statue located here is a large version of the Hong Kong Film Awards statuette. While many of the stars whose names appear on the avenue would only be recognizable to those intimately familiar with the industry, there are some that are instantly identifiable such as Jet Li and Sammo Hung. Admission to the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars is completely free and is open for visitation at any time of the day. However the entire area looks far more impressive when viewed in the evening or night where carefully placed lights illuminate the entire area. When choosing a hotel in Hong Kong for your stay Hotel Jen provides an accommodation option that will allow you to easily access this destination. Being a hotel near Victoria Harbour , guests are only a short distance away from Hong Kong Avenue of Stars.
