The country of Romania is one of many contrasts. From the sandy white beaches on the cost of the Black Sea right up to the mountains, rolling hills and rural farmlands further inland.
Romania hasn’t had an easy time in the past; the country suffered considerably under the communist rule of Nicolae Ceausescu a ruthless dictator.
Since Ceausescu’s fall though, Romania is rapidly regaining its identity, now boasting both, a rich cultural and strong natural diversity.
The dramatic mountain scenery that can be found inland makes an excellent destination for those on the look out for high adrenaline snow sports.
The picturesque valleys, mountain slopes and densely populated forests roll down to the beautiful beaches of the Black Sea Coast, offering truly outstanding views.
The expansive landscape is dotted with rustic villages and holiday cottages, which are still populated, as they have been for 100’s of years. Throughout these villages there is an abundance of religious architecture, such as monasteries and ancient churches.
No holiday to Romania however, would be complete without a trip up to the district of Transylvania. For years Transylvania has lured people up to its mountains, with images of haunted forests, medieval towns and of course the legends of Dracula.
In addition to this though, Transylvania offers some of the most spectacular views throughout the country, with the dramatic alpine scenery of the Carpathian Mountains sure to impress.
The attractions of Romania’s capital, Bucharest are mainly centred on galleries and museums, so it’s probably not going to prove too interesting for the youngsters.
As Romania is finding its feet though, there are number of promising clubs, hotels and pubs popping up throughout the capital.
If you’re considering a trip to Romania, then it’s advised to sort accommodation out prior to arrival, a quick look online for cheap hotels should help you find the best deal.
