If you are an older person with health issues or if you are taking children, you may want to take your own umbrella or rent one. The sun at mid day can be brutal at the peak of summer and shade can be a very good thing.

Never forget to take along your sun block lotion or spray. Even though most people love to get a good tan, the sun can be dangerous especially when you allow yourself to get burned. Sometimes skin cancer can be caused from just one such incident and it is totally avoidable with the proper skin protection. Make sure you have plenty of water to drink when you are at the beach. You do not want to become dehydrated and sports drinks and colas are not always the best source of hydration. Do not forget to take along some good beach shoes or it will not take you long to figure out why you needed them.
