If you are required to travel often, whether for business or work, or if you just enjoy the thrill of traveling often for your own pleasure and leisure, then you can benefit from a great site we recently discovered. It is called Onebag.
As you might suspect, this site is devoted to developing and mastering the art of packing and traveling light, which for some can be a huge challenge. The home page welcomes you to the home of the 'Compleat traveler', a welcome note that truly shows skill and precision, at least in choice of words.
Think the word 'compleat' is a spelling mistake? Think again. It is a real word which means 'highly proficient', and the site aims to do just that : help you develop and master the skills necessary to become a highly proficient traveler.
Doug Dyment, is the owner of the site. He has traveled a lot for various reasons. Needless to say, he quickly discovered that the less luggage he took with him, the more pleasant the trip was. That can be your experience too. Over the years he has turned traveling light into an art form, and started the web site as a way to share what he has learned with the world.
The site is quite clean and well laid out, although it does feature some drop-down menus which are less than ideal for use on a mobile browser or old computer. That said, you will most likely be studying this site before you leave home, not accessing it on the move unless you are having a serious luggage crisis! Most home computers should have a modern enough browser that the pages will display just fine.
OneBag.com is aimed at people who take frequent short trips the advice can help those who go camping or cruising, but the 'one bag' goal may not be as attainable to someone who needs to carry camping stoves or suits for the captains ball. However, the site is a valuable resource for anyone taking short breaks or business trips.
You get more than just great packing tips. The site also offers you a lot of advice on how to choose items for your trip, such as sensible clothing choices and help and advice to decide what to leave at home and buy while you are away, rather than packing just about everything you expect to need under the sun. There are many more tips you can benefit from too. Such as tips on packing lists, traveling with electrical items, and keeping your luggage secure. Important and helpful things you should be bearing in mind before you go on your trip.
Even if you are a seasoned traveler, you can learn a lot from this site, it debunks a lot of packing myths, and provides some great advice on how to select luggage and the best and most efficient ways to pack it.
If you are anything like me, then this site will be valuable in helping you be ruthless when you are packing. The site includes a detailed packing list with the reasoning behind each item and quantity explained in detail.
The site also offers suggestions on brands and bags that can work well for a variety of travelers, including some suggestions of smart bags for business travelers. There is lots of excellent advice on the site, and if you follow the advice given then you should be able to carry your bag around with you comfortably. Best of all, you will arrive at your destination ready to enjoy what is left of the day, instead of exhausted from lugging too much baggage around with you. We should know, we have been there and done that.
