According to historical records available all these states were founded in between the 7th and the 8th century AD and as per a treaty signed with the United Kingdom in the 19th century the responsibility of defense and foreign affairs was given to the UK. Even modern speed boats competing in the Dubai speed boat races are built here. You can see a large collection of artifacts discovered in the Mowaihat archeological site in the Ajman museum.
