Masai Mara Safari Travel Information

Cottar's Safari Camp is situated in an untouched, exclusive concession to the south east of Masai Mara, Kenya bordering the Serengeti and Loliondo reserves. Providing a guarantee of privacy and an abundance of wildlife, this 1920's camp experience returns to the original spirit and essence of 'safari' reminiscent of a golden bygone era; an era of romance, adventure and elegance.

Cottar Safari Camp tradition began in 1919. Eighty years on, we continue to provide an unparalleled tented safari camp experience to discerning clients in Africa. Extending an era of luxury and quality, Cottars Safari Hotel Service returns to the original spirit and essence of 'safari', reminiscent of a golden era - an era of romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance.

Calvin and Louise Cottar resides at the camp and are complimented by highly experienced and knowledgeable guides. African Safaris and Adventures will take you on walks through the bush to experience close encounters with wildlife. Being close to the border with the Serengeti, the spectacular wildebeest migration moves through this area every year and prolific game viewing is guaranteed whether on foot or in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. For those who find themselves hooked on Africa, there comes a time when they want something different, something remote and wild

The Cottar's 1920's Safari Camp is situated in our extensive and exclusive concession between the Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Loliondo reserves where a few Purko Maasai clan roam. This area has been untouched by any kind of tourism or development and offers the discerning client a guarantee of privacy.

Most importantly, while the Mara has a reputation of being over congested with mass tourism, Cottar's have kept the secret of our area for years - no hot air balloons flying overhead, no minibuses buzzing around, no nearby lodges or low flying aircraft to disturb your special moments. The area is more akin to being in the expansive Serengeti National Park, but with the advantage of 'off the road' driving due to the very low vehicle density of the area, and the fact that we can walk and operate 'night drive' activities in our community concession.

Cottar's safari Camp Hotel Accommodation: The camp accommodates up to 16 guests in authentic, spacious white canvas tents. The camp has 6 1920s style en suite white tents, and 4 family tents - each with 2 en suite bedrooms and a shared sitting room, a canopied verandah and carefully arranged to ensure privacy. Each tent is luxuriously furnished with safari antiques from the 1920's, private ensuite dressing rooms/bathrooms, showers and flush toilets. The camp is equipped with a tented library/reading room and the cuisine and silver service is of the highest standard to be found in the bush. Each tent has its own private butler.

Cottar's safari camp Activities: As our concession is outside the game parks, therefore guided walks and night drives are allowed and highly recommended. By walking, guests can get that much closer to nature, and if an opportunity to track wild game presents itself, our trained trackers will take guests even closer still. On a more self-indulgent note, our masseuse will now be based full-time at the camp for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures. Any other needs that guests may have will be met by butlers who have been trained to provide guests with discreet, yet attentive service.

Facilities:

The camp is equipped with great facilities and the cuisine and silver service is of the highest standard to be found in the bush. These facilities include:

1. Bush Meals

2. Soft drinks, beer, house wines and non-luxury spirits

3. Swimming pool
