Orlando Water Sports Complex: Paradise for Water Enthusiasts

If you want to really get into water skiing and related pursuits alike wakeboarding, wake-skating and knee-boarding then the Orlando Watersports Complex was made for you. In the past ten years the Orlando Watersports Complex has become a Mecca for skiers and riders of all levels. Whether you are a beginner or a professional the OWC has something for you.

The key to the success of OWC is the extent of its facilities which allow the users to spend maximum time on the water. The OWC has two cableways including a beginner/intermediate cable park and a slider park.

By moving along cableways you can not only get unlimited riding but a place where you can improve the basic skills that underlie wakeboarding, wake-skating and water skiing.

Training at OWC is not limited to cableways, you can also ride behind Correct Craft boats and take the help of a professional coaching team.

Let's take a closer look at the facilities that you will find at OWC. The Beginner/Intermediate Cable Park is a large area that is used for slalom skiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, trick-skiing and the standard skiing with two skis. This section contains a full size, competition-standard course and is staffed by professionals who assist everyone from beginners to advanced students.

The cable is usually run at speeds around 18 mph which is perfect for beginners. Advanced skiers can ride with cable running at speeds up to 36 mph. There is a carefully calibrated control system and precise speed selections from 5-36 mph can be selected. This cable area is actually a super training facility for riders of all levels. In fact, national teams from around the world come here for their winter training.

The park also has an advanced slider area. It has a cable that runs at 20 mph and features eight obstacles in the lake. There are also two launch ramps, kicker, flat bar, table-top, a-frame, barrel, and the new funbox which is also known as Nessy. Helmets must be worn on this course.

The facility is closed on these holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and the cable lake is open in the Summer (May to September) on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. In spring and fall the schedule is from 11 am to 8 pm, and winter hours are 11 am to 6 pm. The boat lake has similar hours but closes at sunset. During unusual weather conditions the facility may be closed.

If you have some water sports enthusiasts in your family, or if you have always wanted to get into water skiing or board riding, then reserve some time for visits to the Orlando Watersports Complex when you make your vacation in central Florida.
