Prepare for Winter Traveling

When the winter months hit it’s good to be prepared for the cold. Having the comforts of home makes winter a little easier to bear. You can wrap up in a comfortable blanket by the fireplace and watch the snow fall outside your window. Truckers and RVers spend a lot of time away from home and are not always able to enjoy the scenic view of winter. There are five basic winter items that make life on the road more comfortable during these cold months.

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of staying warm is a heater. 12 Volt Heaters are a great way to warm small areas such as truck cabs and RV bedrooms. These little heaters are stylish and compact. They can also help defrost the windows to get you on the road faster. There are also 12 Volt heaters that are all season. They are combination heater/fans to insure comfort all year long. Stay cool in the summer with the fan, and stay warm through the winter using the heater setting. A 12V heater is a great addition to any vehicle for the winter months, no matter if you are a trucker or an RVer.

Another item that comes to mind when you think of staying warm is a blanket. 12 Volt blankets and bunk warmers are sure to keep the chill out of the night. The 12Volt bunk warmer goes under you and also pre-warms your bed. Just select your favorite heat setting and the bunk warmer goes to work. This way, when you are ready to get a little shut eye, the bed is all ready warm for you. The 12V electric blanket is another great way to stay warm on the cold winter nights. Plug it into your cigarette lighter socket and enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep toasty and warm.

Everyone who has driven a car knows the importance of paying attention. This is only more important during the winter months. Road conditions can change at random, creating hazardous conditions for the people driving them. The next winter item to make winter life on the road easier is a headset for your cell phone. Wireless cell phone headsets are very useful. Whenever possible, avoiding the cell phone while driving is truly the best way of the road. The cell phone can be an anchor to home for people who spend a lot of time away. These hands free wireless headsets are the answer they need. They allow you to keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. You never know when there is ice on the road ahead or someone spinning out of control, so being able to concentrate on the road, and not your phone, makes the winter roadways a little safer.

Warming yourself from the inside out is another way to ward off the cold. How are you going to be able to accomplish this if your coffee, tea, or cocoa has gone cold? Bubba Kegs® feature Bubba FAT™ dual wall insulation to keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot. Now, while you’re driving down the road, your beverage will stay at the right temperature. These insulated travel mugs can keep your drink hot for up to three hours, insuring you will enjoy all of your drink and not have to waste the last quarter because it’s cold. They also keep cold drinks cold for up to twelve hours for those who do not care for hot drinks.

The final items to consider while traveling the treacherous winter roadways are travel pillows and blankets. These can be purchased as sets or individually. They provide the extra comfort to make truck cabs and RV bedrooms seem a little more like home. It’s always great to have a few extra on hand just in case. Travel blankets are also great for people that do not like using electric blankets. Simple body warmth trapped in these soft blankets is more than enough for them to sleep comfortably. They can also be stored away and saved for use as an emergency blanket. Navigating winter roadways can be difficult. With these basic items along for the ride, winter driving will be easier to bear.
