Puerto Banus is one of the worlds finest yacht marinas that was originally a small town consisting of a few roads and a small port that has developed in the last few years to its current status as an international yacht marina and resort, it is now one of the favorite destinations for the rich and famous.
It has a unique location overlooking Africa and Gibraltar and be reached easily from the Malaga International Air port through a bus, private transfer or a hire car. The journey is roughly 65km’s and usually takes about 45minutes.
If you are coming from Marbella the journey will be much shorter just 10 minutes and 40 minutes from Gibraltar. It’s central locations means that even if you’re holidaying in Puerto Banus it’s a perfect destination for a one day trip if you are visiting any of the other beautiful Costa del Sol resorts.
There are several shopping areas in Puerto Banus. The Il Corte Ingles is one of the most elegant shopping areas in the entire Costa del Sol region. It hosts many brand name shops packed with the latest fashion items. Marina Banus is another shopping centre in the Puerto Banus, featuring an indoor shopping area including some of the worlds best known brands and a fine restaurant at the lower level of the shopping mall.
Outside the shopping malls there are different designer shops scattered all over Puerto Banus. If you are in Puerto Banus on a Saturday then you must pay the street market a visit. It opens at 9am and finishes in the afternoon. The street market starts from the bullring and ends inside the centre of Puerto Banus. This is a beautiful local market with a lot of souvenirs to buy, food to try and thieves to be aware of! Take care of your bags and do not stay under the sun for too long!
If you’re holidaying in Puerto Banus, there are lots of activities on offer during the day and at night. In the morning why not take a stroll down the beach where you can find a lot of beach clubs offering a full range of facilities from renting sun beds and shades to water sports.
There is also a golf course near Puerto Banus, the whole region of Costa del Sol is famous for its golf courses, containing more than 50 courses in a relatively small region.
When you get tired you can take a break in one of the scattered bars on the beach or the lounge bars on the other side of the road, there are also a number of restaurants offering an endless menu of local and international food.
The nightlife is no less exciting at Puerto Banus, there are different cinemas in this city where you can enjoy films and some of them show English speaking movies.
Puerto Banus and Gibraltar are famous for their casinos, these casinos contain popular games like roulette, black Jack and Texas poker.
If you are not a poker man then you can spend your evening in one of the nightclubs distributed all over the city where you can dance, dine and enjoy a nice time with family or friends.
