But come summer and this 'Land of Gods' rejoices with a welcome climatic change and celebrates this change of season in the “Queen of Hills-Shimla”, in the form of Shimla Summer Festival.

Shimla Summer festival has always been marked as one of the most important attractions for tourists along with the home town people. The celebrations observe a huge association of men and women who gather and celebrate the advent of summer.

Organized by the Shimla Administration Officials, Summer Festival is celebrated with pomp and grandeur in the month of June starting from 2nd June unto 6th June every year. The festival observes various cultural performances given by the regional artists along with folk performances by the various Schools of Himachal Pradesh.

Major attractions of the festival includes Star Nights, Himachal Food Fest, Painting competitions, Roller skating completion, Fashion Shows, Flower Shows etc.

Red Cross Fair, adventurous sports and various Handicraft exhibitions provide the people with a whole lot of excitement to enjoy the summer vacations.

The Summer Festival is organized at the Ridge Shimla along with certain events being organized at the major tourist destinations of Kufri and Naldehra.

Similar to other festivals celebrated in the state, this festival also comes as a rejuvenator of the rich cultural heritage of India which is retained in the best way possible by the people of this region. With a lot of temporary stalls and make shift food joints, the festival comes as a welcome respite to the kids from their boring school schedules as the festival falls during their summer break.
