Stay in a Bit of History at Nelsons Dockyard Antigua

The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel with fourteen rooms is a unique Caribbean Inn which is actually a restored historic warehouse dating from the time when Horatio Nelson's English Navy ruled the seas. It is a really romantic and evocative place, absolutely ideal as a romantic wedding destination or equally a romantic honeymoon destination being a lovely combination of old style gracious living surrounded by history, being right in the middle of Nelson's Dockyard.

One of the real joys of this lovely Caribbean Inn are the staff, and when you hear the words attentive, friendly, nothing is too much trouble, these are often over used, but in this case they are absolutely true.

The rooms are quite superb, with the Contemporary Studios and Suites, and the Georgian Studios and Suites each with their own fully equipped kitchen, with each suite or studio named after one of Nelson's ships. In fact the Georgian style furnishings are offset by 21st century comforts.

The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel has two restaurants, the Wardroom Restaurant styled like an old English Dining Room, and the Mainbrace Pub, opening from breakfast onwards through lunch. The Dockyard being home to yachts from all over the Caribbean, means a real nautical flavour in the pub.

Because of its dockyard situation The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel has enough to see and do around the area for a few days, but you will want to rent a car to get out and about. Nelson's Dockyard itself has been meticulously restored and is quite fascinating. Another thing it is important to realise that the whole dockyard area is very secure, so you can feel very safe, although to be fair the locals always seem very friendly and willing to help visitors.

The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel doesn't do evening meals, but the staff will very happily direct you to some very good local restaurants. You may wish to try The Admiral's Inn, Calabash, Le Cap Horn, The Inn at English harbour to name but a few.

As a romantic wedding destination the Georgian courtyard at the centre of The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel is a superb place to have a wedding. It is a very romantic and intimate little corner of Antigua, and the hotel will go out of their way to ensure your romantic wedding has been held in the right destination and everything goes off like clockwork. You can of course be married at the water's edge if that is what you prefer, but whatever you choose, be it small and intimate or up to 200 guests, you won't be disappointed.

Of course being situated where it is The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel makes the perfect romantic honeymoon destination particularly for a couple who appreciate Naval History.

To summarise, this former warehouse which calls itself The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel, is really a romantic Caribbean Inn, perfectly situated in the midst of British Naval History at Nelson's Dockyard. It is a lovely situation as a wedding or honeymoon destination, and you will be made very welcome, and you will be more than comfortable
