Overall this summer holiday numbers were down as many of us tightened out belts by giving up on summer holidays, having a holiday but a shorter one with many going for one week instead of the traditional two or going for a holiday within the UK.
It now turns many want to make up for the lack of a good holiday this winter by jetting off to an exotic location. Research suggests that the Caribbean, USA and the Canary Islands, Tenerife holidays in particular, have proved among the most popular winter destinations for last minute deals. I guess the USA as the euro zone continues to be avoided due to the weak pound against the euro and for the extremely cheap hotel rooms available especially in New York.
Although a Tenerife holiday will be subject to using the euro it is always a popular destination in winter and increasingly this year with hotels offering huge discounts on accommodation to try to fill up capacity.
Tenerife holidays would a great place for a winter vacation if you are thinking of getting away as many others are doing and for longer with the average number of nights shooting up to nine for bookings. Many people are possibly trying to make up for the lack of a summer holiday or to use up annual holiday entitlement before it runs out.
The south of the Island is where you should head to if you want winter sun from your Tenerife holiday. In the winter the island is divided into two climates with the north quite likely to have snow-capped peaks on the mountains. While the south enjoys hot and dry weather right up until November from May and in January and February still with sunshine and little chance of rain clouds appearing. This happens because of the mountain range which lies along the middle of Tenerife. It protects the south from the harsh northerly winds with a North Tenerife holiday going to give you only around 15 degrees in the winter.
The south is the place for to find the golden beaches, buzzing nightlife and a great selection of food. Make sure you get a picture of the fantastic mountainous range on Tenerife holidays before you leave.
