London is the capital of england and the world's ninth biggest city. It boasts an interesting history that has lasted almost 2000 years, which began when the romans arrived soon after their invasion of britain in AD43.

London is located on the river thames, in the south east of britain.

London suffered especially within the second world war. It suffered severe damage from bombs within this time & many of thousands of children in the city were evacuated out to the country side to avoid the bombs. The most severe bombing occured between 7 September 1940 & 10 May 1941.

As it's the capital of great britain, London boasts the finest museums in the country. One of the finest is the Science Museum, which is situated in south kensington. The museum was formed in 1857 & boasts more than 300,000 exhibits, which include Puffing Billy & Stephenson's Rocket.

The city boasts many of fantastic art galleries too, which include the National Portrait gallery.

The shops in london are some of the finest in the world. From designer stores to independent stores, there's things for everyone to enjoy in this massive city.

One of London's most famous stores is Hamleys, a massive toy shop on Regent Street. it is a massive tourist attraction and receives 5 million visitors per year, many of whom visit at christmas. boasting an incredible 7 floors, the toy shop caters for everyone, from babies and toddlers to grown-ups!

London has marvellous sports, which we're sure that all of us will find wonderful. From marvellous shopping centres, to elite night clubs and wine bars, there's something for everyone in London.

One of the most famous night clubs is the Embassy, which is a members club on Old Burlington st. The club is relatively pricey, but its full of celebs and marvellous for star spotting. as well as this, it serves marvellous food by michelin star winner Garry Hollihead.
