At one time searching through all the towns knucks and crannies was enough to keep people entertained for about three or four trips to San Miguel Mx.Then again every time you visited you were always willing to do the same things you did on past visits as it was so much funand quite different from what we are used to. Today San Miguel de Allende gto Mexico is growing and so is the number of activities you can participate in . Activities that were available then are still available today but with many more options and ways to cut the cake.As am example,lets go back 20 years people spoke of how great a day at the hot springs had been and too bad now had closed. If you were in the in crowd you were told of a remote dirt road that led you to two lovely pools . both shaded equally by an old set of railway tracks. That made them like long tunnels. At both ends of the tunnel there was a breeze, and the tunnel was decorated with a half moon of stained glass square which gave a beautiful glow to the interior pools . One was very warm and one was hot.At the sight there was a really large tree that marked the spot from a distance. For one of San Miguel de Allende's best Attractions, there was absolutely no sign. Within a little while of arrival a little boy would show up and you paid him about two dollars equivalent and he sat under the tree watched your belongings and could even come up with some "refrescos" for you if you asked . After an accidental drowning caused by too much alcohol this great spot was closed only to be reopened as La Grutta a few years later. The owner did not like the accident having happened and supposedly closed the place down forever . Finally in about '94 the old man was not welland so, less able to get angry about his children re-opening the hot springs pools . Literally years went by that you could go almost at any time, pay about three dollars and find yourself almost alone or maybe 5 other people there on the busiest of days. La Grutta was a secret all the town residents shared . Then the old man died and the land he had was further divided for the family and several opened their own hotspring and put out their sign and their own version of bliss. Up sprung today's second favourite, Escondido Place. Now there are at least five options to choose from if Hot Springs would be on your list of San Miguel de Allende activities.
