The Peak as locals call it or more formally called Victoria Peak is a mountain located in Hong Kong, along the western side of Hong Kong Island. Victoria Peak is also called Mount Austin. Victoria Peak stands at a height of 552 meters or 1, 810 feet. Victoria Peak is the tallest mountain on Hong Kong Island yet it is not the tallest in all of Hong Kong. The tallest mountain in Hong Kong is the Tai Mo Shan.
The summit itself is closed to the public since a radio telecom facility is installed there, nonetheless the adjacent areas of the summit, which includes parks that are open to the public and also high priced residential lands, are actually referred to as The Peak.
The Peak is a prominent tourist attraction and gives the visitors a wonderful vantage pint to view the nearby islands, Victoria Harbour and Central Hong Kong. The Peak gets more than 7 million tourists each year. On The Peak one can find the Peak Galleria and Peak Tower located side by side to each other. These two areas are popular shopping and leisure sites. The Peak Tower contains a station to the Peak Tram, whereby visitors can gain access to The Peak from Central District though this railway system. The Peak Galleria contains a bus stop. There is also the Victoria Peak Gardens, situated atop the Mountain Lodge, which was an old summer stay for the Governor. A popular walking path is the Lugard Road. Many restaurants are situated along The Peak, one of the oldest of these maybe the Peak Lookout Restaurant which has a more traditional housing.
The Cosmo Hotel is a hotel in Hong Kong, where one can find good accommodation while staying in area.
